The Crossroads
President Ezra Taft Benson encouraged mothers to be present at the crossroads of their children’s lives. Though the demands of daily living keep a mother occupied, the crossroads provide opportunities to share tender moments of love. Every hug and kiss goodbye and every greeting after separation provides her children with support and encouragement. Children may not remember details, but they will remember their mother being there as often as possible. Her children will not forget her love as they forge their own paths.
I have seen this love shared between a friend and her son. His kiss on her cheek was not planned but happened while I was taking their photo before school one morning. His spontaneous gesture of affection gives great insight into his mother’s devotion. Her care is not routine; it is priceless.
