Sung and Unsung
This beautiful mother is Carrie.🧡She has three beautiful children and plays the guitar. She finds joy in nature and in helping others find peace in their lives. She is incredibly kind and has an equally wonderful testimony. She is committed to the Lord and relies on Him through her trials. I greatly admire her spiritual strength and fortitude.
We’ve been told that the purpose of mortality is to grow and progress to become more like our loving Heavenly Father. Often, it seems that this path of becoming necessitates some breaking and reconstruction of the soul. At times, we may find ourselves blindsided by the agony of experiences such as relationship struggles, financial hardships, medical complications, etc. At such times, we may feel that we have no understanding of the purpose of our trials and what we’re being asked to overcome. We may feel that we simply don’t have the strength to continue.
But I know that all is not lost; there is hope. President Russel M. Nelson promises that when our focus is on Jesus Christ, we can find joy in our lives no matter our circumstances. (Nelson, 2016). We can find peace through the Savior, He who knows how to perfectly succor each of us.
I trust that in time, whether in mortality or in the eternities, we will see God’s glorious design, trials included, that has led us to our potential and ultimate happiness. As I examine my own life, I know that He has been in the details, right by my side, leading me to blessings I couldn’t fathom for myself. And so, as Elder Jeffrey R. Holland says, “If for a time you are unable to echo the joyous melodies you hear coming from others, I ask you to hold tenaciously to the line in this hymn that reassures, ‘Jesus listening can hear the songs [you] cannot sing.’” (Holland, 2017). As you continue to search for Jesus Christ and hold on, I promise you will find Him and feel His love for you.
